THE PROCESS

From Vision To Reality

Every tattoo is a journey. Understanding the process ensures the best possible outcome
for both the art and your experience.

STEP 01

Tattoo Preparation

Drafting The Tattoo

Once a booking is confirmed, Ben takes the concept of your idea and interprets the reference material and examples you have provided to draw out the tattoo ready for the appointment on the day.

If this is a first-time tattoo experience for you, and you are nervous, exceptions can be made to the process. Collaborating your thoughts with Ben and viewing first-draft designs can be arranged prior to the day making sure you're confident.

In other cases, the final design is shown on the day (not sent through email) ensuring there is face-to-face consultation and understanding between yourself and Ben, and any changes to the design can be resolved.

"Remember, tattoos are permanent. It is in your best interest to be as open and communicative with Ben as possible enabling the best experience."

Preparing Your Body

Ben's focus is just as much on your comfort and well-being as it is on his tattoo work. Regular breaks are provided as needed, in addition to routine communication on how you are managing with the process.

For your body and mind to be in the best condition for getting a tattoo, it is wise to get a full night's rest, eat well, and keep hydrated before you arrive at the studio.

STEP 02

Tattoo Cover-ups

Tattoo Cover-up consultations involve working with Ben in discussing and planning possible themes and designs that may work best with your existing tattoo.

Ben will hold a short 'pen-to-skin' session where he will sketch and sculpt possible designs over the existing tattoo to provide a rough visual idea of what outcome is achievable.

Existing tattoo cover-ups are best tackled using opaque colour pigments that can guarantee solid and even coverage. Diluted, grey-wash imagery will not cover the tattoo properly.

Patience is required for tattoo cover-ups and typically requires two sessions to ensure a strong and lasting result.

STEP 03

Tattoo Aftercare

Once you leave the studio, it is your responsibility to care for your body and tattoo during the healing process. The following steps will play a direct role in how your tattoo heals.

After Your Session

1 Remove wrap after two hours

2 Wash tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap

3 Pat dry and apply Bepanthen cream (not oil) 45 minutes after washing

4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 each morning and night for 5 – 7 days

Important Reminders

Your tattoo is an open wound, so treat it like one

Keeping it clean and not scratching it are common sense

Keep unwashed hands off it

Do NOT soak your tattoo in any form of water until healed. Showers are fine.

Do NOT sun bake or any other form of tanning for one month

Picking the scabs will cause the colour to fall out. Let them fall off naturally.
